FAQ's:

  • How does this thing work? When you start a trip, Safe OTR monitors your phone usage to ensure Distracted Driving is minimized. As you drive longer, you earn multipliers that boost your points, as much as 10-times! If you use the phone, you loose the multiplier, although you still get the base points.

  • How do I get paid? Every month (starting May 2016) we will send Gift Card Codes to the safest drivers. First place earns the most (currently $20), and the more people that use Safe OTR, the more rewards we will offer. Note that only users with a confirmed email address will be eligible for rewards.

  • What is OK to do while driving? You can listen to music and navigation instructions as long as you start it before your trip.

  • Should I lock the phone? Make sure you do not lock the phone. If the phone is locked, the points stop.

  • Is there a limit to how many points I can earn? Yes. We are working hard to change this in the very near future, but for now all drivers are limited to a maximum of 4 hours driving time in a 24 hour period.

  • How do I create an account? When you are stopped, tap on the number of points in the top half of the screen. This will take you to login. Tap "Create an Account" and fill in your desired username, an email address where we can reach you for contest results, and a password. Shortly after, you will get an email from Safe OTR asking you to verify your email address. Once you click that link your account will be verified, and you will be eligible to receive rewards every month you're a safe driver.

  • Why do you need my location while I'm driving? We use the combination of all drivers location data to track overall traffic patterns, and show that by reducing distracted driving we can improve the commute experience for everyone. We will never share your location or personal information with any of our partners.
